We're planning to protest at DSEi

In September 2017 the London Catholic Worker will join other groups organising to STOP DSEI, one of the biggest arms fairs in the world taking place at the Excel centre in London.

Join us at Giuseppe Conlon House on Thursday 2nd February 6.30 to 8.30pm to learn more about DSEI, hear about and see pictures from past protests and direct action, and find out what you can do to help put an end to DSEI.

In 2015, the London Catholic Worker took part in a "No Faith in War" day of action together with Put Down The Sword, Pax Christi and Disarm Quakers outside the Excel centre. The day was part of a week of action to disrupt the setup of DSEI. We used symbols of our faith to claim and occupy a space and nonviolently resist the arms fair. We held a prayer service, a Quaker meeting of worship and a mock funeral for the victims of arms trade. Red paint, symbolising blood, was spilled across the road and people gathered around a white coffin singing hymns. Together we were able to block both entrances to the Excel centre for nearly four hours and several armoured vehicles were turned away!

This workshop will take place at Giuseppe Conlon House, 49 Mattison Road, London N4 1BG. For more info contact londoncatholicworker[at]yahoo.co.uk or 02083488212 or check out facebook.
